The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers' Pier 60 was the site of the Propeller Club Port of New York & New Jersey's second annual "A Taste of New York / New Jersey" social event.

The Taste of New York / New Jersey took place on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Food from around the region was featured, along with local maritime industry entertainment. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School; students and faculty were on hand to help with the event.

Co-Chairing the event were Marcus Arky of Metro Group Maritime and George Chalos of Chalos & Co., supported by the Chapter's Board of Directors. This is the third social event held by the Chapter, which was resurrected in January, 2010. Since then, the chapter has grown to over 130 members.

"Given the importance of the maritime industry, we feel a Propeller Club event is the perfect place to also showcase the tastes of our area and bring the maritime community together from all over," stated Propeller Club Chapter President Carleen Lyden-Kluss.
